irishwolf wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 2:58 pmHey Ed, the guy from Australia had a screen name of PIMPED_HER_OUT. Another excellent player was kmaxm2001 (kc martin). I was pretty good friends with kmax. Perry (from Chicago, Euchre Universe, was good as well but did not play often with us. Harvey Lapp, The Rabbit, is from Vegas, a card dealer. Does he play with you guys? Met him in Cleveland at Joe's tournament. He was from Buffalo. I sold him a Euchre T-shirt, cheap.
Yeah Perry used to play more in the earlier days of ES. Never met him but He aslo was cited with his website by Zalas. Yes Met Harvey Lapp, He was at the 2006 WSOE met him indirectly but saw him once or twice at the lasVegas euchre meetup that he started. He doesn't play much at all.
Now that is a good win percentage against Natty. Who was your partner? You know he was or is a lawyer, never wrong. Never admitted he was wrong on anything even when you gave him all the facts.
Pajonsero was my partner. Jed was going to be mine because since the arguements of play started with Jed and I backed Jed up on some of the arguments while asserting my own. Jed could not make it at the times indicated so I had to find someone else.
We (many on ES) had a big discussion about a controversial play about leading trump or an off suit ace (by the dealer), it was a question submitted by this guy, EMPTY_BEE. Pretty interesting, (I still have all the data) as the dealer's partner assisted. Dealer trumps the 1st trick, has a green off suit ace and a trump. The questions was, should the dealer now he lead his green singleton ace or his only trump? I did a lot of hands to prove which was statistically better and Natty still disagreed. All the hands played both ways, various holding for S2. I did indicated that the Ace should be led first because often enough S2 will not get back to your Green ace. You will get a few more sweeps by leading trump as I remember it. S2 can slough his bad card. But way fewer times being euchred depend on how thin S2 is when assisting. It boiled down to getting more points in the long-run by leading the Ace. Probably to this day he still disagrees and maybe for good reason because Natty at S2 will only assist with a strong hand. However, that is still questionable because to get back to the green ace because you have to have that suit of two unknown off suits, a 50% chance). Give the facts, after that, who cares? The discussion went on for days!
But I will say, give him his dues, he was often more right than wrong! He was an excellent writer and had lots of humor during the games. He use to give Joe Andrews a bunch s h i t, unnecessarily. Did not want anyone competing with his pamphlet, lol.
LOL yeah he did give him shit. Depending on score and type of player that orders and his range. I'd lead back Ace of trump. If he calls thin, than maybe lead the Fresh off Ace.
I did not get on ES until about 2007 or 2008.
I was starting to slow down by then on ES
I worked on getting another player for tonight, but was not successful. I hate the bots but I guess we might have to. I am in!
Bot is fine with me if we have to

Irish how about me and you just play, if we don't get Four??
I told Wes I'd have taken the bot and you two partner woulda been fine with me. I told him to help me out. He hates bots when we are trying to get a good game going but I told him I'd would play with the bots for the entirety of the night. Just let me get against higher skilled people so I can get my game brushed up on at the higher level.

I can't play with bots so I'm out today, but you and Irishwolf can still have fun playing ranked games. You can arrange it where you guys are always on the same team. Both you guys go to the lobby at 4pm. Then one of you guys join a ranked table that has 1 or 0 people (if it has 2+ people wait for another ranked table to open up). Once someone joins, say Edward joins for example, then wolf can see where his seat position is and make sure to pick the spot to be Edward's partner. If you guys haven't "liked" each other on the site do that (in game click on that "star"), then you'll see each other as a "star" in the lobby and thus it will be easy for you guys to spot one another. You guys can play ranked and crush it as partners for a couple hours+. I just did that with ED as my partner today for 21 games (we went 13-8, not bad).
Also, if one of you joins a ranked table and the seat opposite you fills up so you wont be partners quickly leave the table and wait for another ranked table but NEVER leave a table if it fills up cuz the site will ban you for so many hours for leaving a full ranked game. But as long as the game is not full you can leave it. Ideally one guy is the designated guy to join first, and the other guy quickly sees him and quickly gets in the seat that will make them partners. It's probably best to never join a ranked table with 2 people even if the seat positions are right cuz it's too risky, too high of a chance you'll be sucked in a game with a stranger as your P.

Find my name if you don't see a star on the euchre table. If you can't see my name you may not be able to do ranked games, if yoiu dont have 10 regular games in ?

Or you can go to the list on the side and look for ranked tables that are empty and I'll find you. IF there are not ranked tables go to an empty one and I will follow .

ED,
That was a frustrating mess last night. I was not prepared to play other than standard OE Private table. Had not played on the other and did not want to waste your time or bog you down. So I will be organized next time if need be.

I know two steves. Not sure on the last names. Ones an older one, hes done some research into the orgins of euchre and such. He knows jie Andrews personally. The other steve is younger around my age or younger.
As for Harvey. Ive only seen him once. He used to play more when he first started the euchre club from my understanding.

It's the older one, balding. He and I conversed about the history of Euchre and its origin. He did some good research in Newspaper articles. I think he even travel to Alsace which appears to be where it first started, Jucker-spiel. He thinks euchre started in N.O., but not true. Started with the Germans in PA during the Revolutionary War. I met him in Richmond, Va back 2 years ago or so. He has a PhD, in history I think but I have the history on Euchre. Will be posting that very soon! Research euchre (me) for 23 years, off and on. He's cool! Not sure how good a player he is tho.

Yeah thats the one. Hes balding and has glasses. Hes brought those newspapers articles in too. My favorite was in the gold rush days in California they played $10,000 a game euchre.

Thanks, Don, Wes and Lefty for playing tonight. Good games fun times. I still hate that site. LOL. I have a really hard time with that site and its not a one time affair either. My one mistake minor, forgetting the Turn down card cost us getting two points and the extra point woulda have won us the game. Im just happy I didn't pass a loner or ordered up cause I thiought it was my deal. Those seems to be the big ones I have. Not hitting the loner button correctly and ordering up when I think I am dealer. Anyways.. blah blah blah. Good games tonight appreciate everyone coming out.

I started the game off with a misclick, and Don bailed me out, lol.
Yes, some high intensity games. I think I donated 6 or 7 times myself. One time in 3rd seat I disregarded my sensing, did not donate but should have. That was from 3rd seat. And we lost that game. I won't let that happen again!
