Lone call was correct, but......................

Playing the trump king without knowing where the ace is, is asking for trouble.

Any experienced player will hold the ace back on an ace-left set.

Go fishing with your off-suit ace.

Yes, I agree can't play that King on 2nd trick.

Also, S1 played the wrong card to the first trick. Two doubletons, should play the diamond first. But it did not matter.

It does matter in the long run! Law of Large Numbers.

Obviously your not going to lead the left into a lone.

But why would diamonds be a better lead than a heart?

It would seem the heart is the better lead as it could be the stopper if the maker called holding something like ace 9 in hearts.

Yes. I agree the Ac lead is the “correct lead.” Playing the Ac would have made a perfect Beginner and Casual post. I also erred in the wording of my subject. It should be titled, “World you order this Loner?”

I had my reasons, but they are not germane to this B&C post. So I will omit that line of reasoning for the B&C posts. I will need to find a better hand for the Open forum before I post my logic.

WHEW!

You lead the diamond for two reasons. One it only covers a 9D doubleton. But more important its TOUCHING! Always lead the doubleton touching. So look at the heart doubleton, it 1) covers two cards. 2) if you lead low and the runner has JH / KH (or JH / AH) he goes over your low card and wins your high cards as well. If you lead high he covers your QH and now the JH will cover your 9H or 10H.

That precisely is why you lead the doubleton touching first!

It's not hard!
