We are going to try something a little different, On these hands, the maker was euchred. The question is, would you have called, and could it have been played to make a point?

I would have ordered R1S1 but lead the Left. With 3 trumps, especially LAK, I have power and I simply play power when I have it. Playing trump draws Opponents’ trump. Drawing trump increases the probability of partner taking a trick. You give partner 3 suits to win a trick instead of 1 suit and the remote possibility of having a void and a trump (maybe a 20% possibility). Keep the math simple, 3:1.2 odds favor leading a trump when you have 3 trump. If I apply a more detailed and debatable BPS analysis, I expect an 88% chance of getting a point.

I would order if I had LT9. I would lead the 9 of trump. With this hand I estimate a 74% chance of getting a point. That is still a very positive EV, even ignoring taking 2 points, .74x1-.26x2= +.22

The best lead to the 1st trick is your Left! This is not rocket science. So what theory of euchre is S1 using would be a good question to ask?

S1 commits what I consider a cardinal sin in euchre. When you're in S1 never call in the 1st round when you have a viable alternative in the 2nd round. S1 should not be making this marginal diamond call in the first round when he has a decent spade call--R+1+A--in the 2nd round. Bag the dealer's team in the first, and if they pass, call spades. IOW get your cake and eat it too, I.E. maximize the perks of being in S1.

As played, S1 HAS to lead trump here (the Left). Whenever one has 3 trump + the lead and they don't have the Right it is absolutely critical they lead trump. If the Right is in your P's hands, that trump lead only helps your team. If the Right is in enemy hands, leading trumps helps prevent the nightmare scenario of getting nickeled and dimed: E.G. say the Right is in S4's hand and S1 leads offsuit to S2's void allowing him to get a cheap trump trick. Never let that happen, always lead from 3 when you don't hold the Right.

Pass here first off. If you do call lead the left.
