Yes, only double lead if you can control the hand, and can win even if the other team wins the trump lead.

I agree (I don't like double leads of trump except in special situations) it does not make sense here for S3 to double lead trump as S2 has no clubs and the dealer did not play the Right. I suppose an outside chance his has the JC but why then waste the KC or I suppose could have the QC? But you have to know your partner? Did S1 only have the 9C?

It would make more sense for S3 to lead a spade to the 2nd trick here as S1 probably has the AS.
