OE my fav euchre of the night

Unread post by LeftyK »

This was the hand where I (1st time on this site) misclicked a card as I was adjusting myself in my chair.
So instead of us up 9-8 we were DOWN 8-9 going into the last hand and the other team dealing. I was like, we, have nothing to lose I'll just lead trump Queen, and destroyed the dealers call for a 10-9 euchre for the game. Would you ever lead trumps in this situation?

I don't like this reasoning. We need something more to go on to justify a strategy. And the fact that it "worked" doesn't really tell us much either given how often it is possible in any card game to "play bad and get there" as they say in poker.

From this hand configuration against a dealer call I would not lead trump becuz I don't believe it is correct to do so. Interesting to note I doubt you are leading trump against a dealer call from this hand type at 0-0 and if that's the case there's a logical inconsistency going on here. For if your trump lead here is correct at down 9-8 it should also be correct at 0-0. After all, the opponent's hand ranges are actually stronger at 9-8 than at 0-0 (at 9-8 all loners are in the dealer's calling range, and S2's passing range is slightly stronger as he's now passing some semi-donates he'd call with at 0-0). So if your strategy is correct when the opponent is up 9-8, it should also be correct at 0-0 when your opponent's range is slightly weaker.

My estimation of what happened here is you just got lucky :)

As an aside, S4 misplayed the hand. (The results would've still been the same but that's irrelevant). With 2 tricks in his hand, S4 needs to play off on S3's garbage 2nd street lead giving his P every opportunity to help.

sometimes it pays to be lucky :) ; but yes I would 90% of time at 0-0 also lead trumps with that same hand.

You have to have to be kidding!

Only helps the Dealer, 90%+ of the time.

Not only did you get lucky, it was my only misclick of the Night. I intended on bagging on next and click on the wrong card. But it's all good!
