With what was called and how it was initially played out. I am goid with the play calling from both seat 2 and 1. There is one other possible lead other than the right and that is a diamond lead. I however favor the trump lead because of the score and to eliminate dealer of Trump possibly and catch seat 2 calling light which is highly possible.

First round is standard to me. Good call by S2. The question is how should S1 play his hand. IMO, S1 should go for the euchre becuz on defense you should ALWAYS go for the euchre. Don't passively play your cards. S1's plan here is very simple: Lead the Right to attack S2's greatest advantage, the fact that his P is guaranteed to have at least 1 trump and almost always a void (there are some 2 ace/3 ace exceptions where S4 may not have a void, but that's so rare it's not relevant). S1 is trying to destroy any chance S4 can help out his P. But S1's plan is more than simply "lead the Right". S1's real plan is to lead the Right and then double lead trump IF he thinks there's a decent chance S4 has another trump. Taking out 4 enemy trump in 2 leads could easily lead to the euchre. After all S2 presumably called needing some help from his P. If S1 could prevent S4 from ever helping in trump that would be a decent coup for his team.

Notice, S1 abandoned his plan to double lead trump. Why? Becuz S4 played the upcard on the first lead which suggests that may be all the trump S4 has. When that's the case there really is no reason now to double lead trump, so S1 correctly changes course and leads his off ace and gets trick #2. Then S1 is left between choosing to lead a diamond or a spade. S1 decided to lead a diamond becuz this was his dirtiest suit and therefore most likely to bring out trump from S2. Unfortunately this was a misread on S1's part. He didn't factor in the possibility that S2 would correctly play off if he were void in that suit. When that's the case, S1's best lead then is probably the suit S2 is mostly likely NOT void in, which would be spades, hoping S2 doesn't have the boss spade in that suit.

This was a great hand with a tragic ending.
