This is definitely not a loner at a neutral score. Just way too weak. That said, if I'm down 9-6/9-7, I'd go alone. This hand barely qualifies for a hail mary loner, but it does make the cut. My criteria for a hail mary loner is pretty simple: If I only need 2 cards buried to have a shot, I go for it. Here we only need 2 cards buried to have a shot:
After that, then we just hope we survive the first lead and that our enemies only have 1 trump a piece or less for us to promptly clear out. Optimistic assumptions indeed, but when it's hail mary time you gotta hope for the best.
