BPS system

Unread post by gadavis » Wed Mar 27, 2019 6:29 pm

I am relatively new to Euchre. I have spent most of my adult life playing Bridge and Chess. I am presently spending time trying to understand the Bidding Point System. I would greatly appreciate some members answering a few questions I'm struggling with. (1) After assigning points to each card in a hand pursuant to Basic BPS, do you add more points to the hand as adjustments for certain strong combinations such as holding 3 or 4 trump and a Bower? (2) In making adjustments for strong combinations, what is the meaning of adding points for "3 Trump and a Bower or 2"? Does this mean we add 0.75 points for 3 Trump and 1 or 2 Bower?
I thank you in advance for taking the time to consider and respond to my questions.

Hi Gadavis, I'm Richardb, the poster of BPS - Basic. I also used point systems in chess and bridge.

I posted:
[Strong combinations are very powerful and deserve additional points].
0.50 for any 3 trump
0.75 for 3 trump and a Bower or 2
1.00 for 3 trump & 2 Boss Trump
1.00 for 4 trump and a Bower or 2
Any 3 trump includes: 9TQ, 9TK, 9TA, TQK, TQA, TKA. Add 0.50
If you have 3 trump and it includes a Right or Left, add 0.75
If you have 3 trump and it includes the Right and the Left, add 1.00
If you have 4 trump and the Right or the Left, add 1.00

Does that clarify how to apply the guidelines?
