Be Cautious When Calling S2

Unread post by RedDuke » Tue Jun 01, 2021 12:18 am

Admittedly, my partner didn't really know me, but this is the kind of hand that you want to pass on as S2 unless you've got something killer. The reason: Take a look at my hand as the dealer. I've got a good loner attempt here with the right being the upcard!

Red, He can't pass that. At this score. Heck he's got nearly a loner try himself. You guys got two points which is good. If he went alone he wouldn't had made so getting the two is good here. You woulda made your loner if he had passed.

2S passing this hand would be terrible. I go alone with that holding from the 2 spot but it's close. It's close becuz IF you bring your P along you virtually never go set and you get a 2 pt march alot as you know you P has the Right and they get the opportunity to create a void. Calling could easily beat out going alone here. This is another spot I'd like to test. If 2S had a Queen loser instead of a King loser then I just call and feel very good about it.
