Not sure what you're talking about here. Are we talking about S3 playing the Left on 2nd street? IMO S3 played this hand expertly. I can't think of one scenario where playing the Left in that spot will burn him, but playing the Left in that spot could easily lull the maker into a false sense of security those times he has 4 trump. When the maker has 3 trump, he's gonna play more defensively no matter what card S3 plays (QH vs JD). But imagine if the maker started with a hand like this:

(Card_J-H) (Card_K-H) (Card_10-H) (Card_9-H) (Card_A-C)

When S3 plays the Left on 2nd street, the maker could easily think, "ok there's no way S3 has AhQh in his hand, therefore I can lead trump without worry" and BAM the maker incorrectly leads trump again and gets euchred.

Also, sometimes when the maker is desperate he will still lead trump on trick 3 even if he started with 3 trump and his last trump is not boss. Why would he do this?! it will be those times the maker is down a lot of points, and he's trying to maximize the probability of a 4 pt loner, so if there's one higher trump out there, the Maker may gamble and lead trump anyways rather than play his off ace and reveal what suit the enemy should hold onto. This of course is a controversial strategy but even a desperate aggressive Maker wont try this with two higher boss trump out. IOW if S3 plays the QH on 2nd street even a bold maker is never leading his last trump, the KH, on 3rd street with the AH and JD out there. But when S3 plays the JD, this could easily induce a desperate maker to "go for it".

Either way, what S3 did is primarily a ploy to trick the maker those times the maker has 4 trump. The bottom line is there's no downside to S3's strategy but good things can happen from it.

EDIT: Nvm to all of the above lol, I now see what you're talking about. S1 needlessly holds onto the KC on 4th street when he knows S3 doesn't have a club! The KC is totally worthless in this spot when S3--who is void in clubs--is cleaning out the maker. S1 needs to hold on to that QS. You never know, the QS can save the day, but the KC never can.

Just another one of those opposing hands that the shuffler is doing (less than 3% chance). You see it too often to say you get random deals.

Wes points out something interesting later in the hand but what else is going on here that would or could make things difficult and later nullify what wes pointed out?
