Going Alone Question

Unread post by kd33 » Mon May 21, 2018 9:16 am

If a player decides to go alone (on the first go around) and orders up trump, do they pick up the card their partner would have picked up and discard another card? Thanks!

Only the person that deals gets to pick up and use that card. If you order your partner and go alone, your partner would get the up card. Because your partner sits out on a lone call, none of their cards are played.

Sorry if I'm confused, but if the dealer decides to go alone, they can pick up the card? Otherwise, if another player goes alone, their partner would pick it up and then not play it? Thanks! :-)

The only one that gets to pick the upcard and use it would be the dealer. No one else gets that card. It makes no difference what team goes alone. If the dealer’s partner were to go alone then the dealer would not play in that hand. In that case, the upcard is not used. It just sits in the dealer’s hand. If one of the opponents called alone, the dealer would be able to play and use the upcard.

Suz is right! The upcard belongs only to the Dealer at all times.
