When my partner let the first trick go, I thought 'nice play' then he spoiled it with his next moves.

Does not look like a mistake to me by S2 for this particular hand!

First of all, S2 sloughs a Spade when he has two when he should have created a void with the KH slough. What kind of playing is that?

And should Eldest lead from a club suit when he has four?

However, that said if S2 does not take the trick with the JD and leads AD to trick 3, you will not pick up S3 other trump card. You will not get a sweep by letting S4 have trick 2 because S3 is void in Spades.

S3 plays low to the KH lead when he has the AH? What kind of playing is that?

If S2 plays correctly by sloughing the KH to trick 1 and then leads JD/AD you get your sweep because he has all spades for the lead to trick 4 for Dealer AS/KS and a Sweep!

Generally, many holdings by D4 S2 should have played low because he does not have a side ace to lead and he knows where the KD is.
