An example of not counting trump. Your comments?

Only issue I see is the Dealer's discard. You discarded your club and kept 4 spades. Even though headed by and Ace, you don't know the strength of your partner and leading a spade sets him up for being over trumped. True you do not create a void in clubs, if that is led, still it can create havoc. IMO He did not go alone, and you needed it. However, with your four spades, it likely you will seldom make a sweep anyway. Luckily, he had the Right/Ace. Lots of ways to get euchred.

Not sure what you're talking about. S2 played the hand fine. I am skeptical of Wolf's idea to keep the club but I see where he's coming from. Irrespective of what I think, I'm still majorly impressed when someone comes up with an idea I never thought of before.

Sorry, I screwed up on this one. At least it generated a couple of posts!

I'm giving away trade secrets, but I do that alot sometimes as dealer when my P calls for exactly the reason Irish stated. Hey, we agree on something IW. :)

I am going to disagree with Irishwolf's assessment since he's looking at it from a perspective that maker will always play trump and maker may get over trumped. He's assuming seat 1 will always trump an ace of spade lead. It is possible that the other two spade are always burried and seat 1 will be always trumping in. This doesn't automatically mean an over trump is needed. Maker can slough here. Maker can also slough or play off if seat 1 plays a spade. There are many options here. However these options depend on if the thinking player is willing to settle for 1 pt to ensure a euchre doesnt happen.
