A Bad Play But Thankfully Was Okay

The maker screwed up here by not leading the right on the second trick. This was a marginal hand to call as S3 (JA+2 off aces) so need to maximize the chances of at least one of those aces walking. Fortunately, S1 was able to save us from the euchre.

It's a little hard to tell which perspective you're speaking from, but obviously both players screwed up here. West has TWO trump, and leads a lousy K instead, but even if the maker thinks his p is void, that's all the more reason to lead the right and hope one of the aces are good. This may be a "marginal" hand if you have an expert partner sitting in S1, but I would call this all day with most players. If W just leads trump this would have been an easy march, E wouldn't even have to decide whether to play under, as N only holds the left, in which case leading the AS after playing the right should be an automatic decision.
