Penalty for not following suit

Unread post by Suz » Fri Jun 15, 2018 8:07 pm

Thursday night a group of us got together to play some euchre games. My partner played a loner. On the last trick, she realized that one of the other player had not followed suit and saved a trump until the end. When my partner complained to the person that didn’t follow suit, they said it was a mistake and our team gets two points. I heard that we should have received four points. Has this ever happened to anyone else. What was the result, did you get two or four points?

A renege by an opponent during a lone call is always four points for the maker.

It has to be the max points that could have been won by the non-reneging player. Ususally that's 2, but obviously on a loner that's 4. Otherwise, this play would be standard practice on every loner.
