Blocking an opponents call.

A euchre forum, which focuses mainly on the advanced strategies and statistics used by experienced players, can be a little overwhelming to a new player.

Blocking an opponents call.

There are players that disagree with the strategy of blocking (AKA Donating or as some call it just giving away points). While there are pros and cons to both sides, to win, there are those hands/scores that require this strategy be used. Below is one such hand.

I'd argue that you should always order a jack if you don't have any way to stop a loner and getting euchred won't end the game. With the score at 9-7, a loner will result in a victory for the other team. It's better to be at 9-9 with your deal than it is to lose because you are terrified of getting euchred.

It's even questionable whether South has a good second round hand. He could try a reverse next call, but admittedly his hand is weak for that. Yes, in this case the partner was also loaded with clubs but south has no way of knowing that.

This is a pretty easy donate.
